Exceeded Expectations!
The temple is conveniently located on the bus line (bus stop #9) and is near the Okunoin cemetery.
The room, shared restroom facilities, and public bath were modern and well kept. The staff were helpful throughout our stay. I participated in the meditation session, morning service and fire ritual which positively added to the entire experience.
My upgraded meal was outstanding. It was a lot of food and the meals were delicious and wonderfully presented.

Well located across from the west entrance to Okunoin cemetery, this temple stay exceeded our expectations. The staff were very warm and friendly. We were also lucky since some spoke English. They explained the stay, showed us to our room (and carried out luggage). The meals were delicious as well.
Would highly recommend for a comfortable, convenient, and friendly stay in Koyasan.

Exceptional experience! All staff/monks were very friendly. Vege/vegan dinner/breakfast was an experience. Had the Japanese deluxe room which was very large with amazing bathroom and great view of the garden. Heater in room. Religious service in the morning with fire ritual was once in a lifetime experience. They offer a guided nighttime tour through Okunoin Cemetery which was really cool. Indoor onsen was nice and allowed tattoos. Overall a very nice time!

Lovely shukubo in a beautiful, special town
The shukubo experience is unlike any other. There’s a wonderful balance here between the simple, but comfortable accommodations and the gorgeous meals.

Breakfast and dinner are filling and absolutely delicious, and are also vegan (with gluten-free options also available)! The rooms and building are beautiful. The bathroom is hilariously (in a good way!) high-tech and luxurious compared to the traditional decor throughout the building. The building is right next to the bus station and walking distance to the famous graveyard/temples for sightseeing. You can also join the monks in their daily morning prayer and fire ceremony.
